The last VQ-1 EP-3E deployed on operations was BuNo 159893,
which completed its final flight in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations on October 29, 2024.
Another VQ-1 EP-3E BuNo 161410 had been operating from Souda Bay, on the Greek island of Crete.
161410 returned to Whidbey Island on November 4, 2024.
A Navy directive issued July 18, 2023, scheduled VQ-1's de-activation for March 31, 2025.

VQ-1 is set to deactivate on 31 March 2025.
A deactivation ceremony will be held at NAS Whidbey Island on 28 March 2025.
The final EP-3E Aries II (BuNo 159893) was retired on 12 February 2025.
The last P-3C (BuNo 161588) will be retired in an informal ceremony at NAS Whidbey Island on 20 February 2025.
